Social Events Hospitality Relax in our hospitality suite in the afternoons. There always are beverages, snacks and good company. Thirsty Bear We’ve reserved a private area at this popular restaurant, well-known in the city for its microbrewery and tapas. Pool tables, dart boards, tapas, beer, wine and sangria are on the ticket for this fun evening with your Pac-West friends. The Thirsty Bear is a short walk from the Grand Hyatt. Just added! Our friend, Ann Bisgyer (copublisher of Fastener Industry News) passed away January 2. We will honor her memory at this party. Friday Reception and Banquet Participation is open to all conference attendees. This event always features fun, memorable and interactive entertainment, and this time will not disappoint! Saturday Lunch and Ignite Sessions This event also is included in your conference registration fee. We’ve offered Ignite sessions at the last few conferences, and so far they have been pretty entertaining and sometimes educational too! Spouse Events Just added! Group Excursion to Sausalito (Thursday) -- This event is for those who want to visit Sausalito but not go on the bike ride. We'll meet in the hotel lobby at 10:30 am and head forth to the Ferry Building. Ferry ride, lunch and shopping is on your own. The ferry ride is about $18 round trip and a cab to the Ferry Building is about $10. Meet and Greet (Friday) – We’ll gather in the hospitality suite to get to know each other better and discuss possible impromptu outings. Possibilities include the De Young Museum, the Ferry Building, California Academy of Science, Japanese Tea Gardens (it will be cherry blossom season), and so much more.
The Maltese Falcon (Friday) – If you have a bent for history and mystery, we have a great afternoon planned. San Francisco is the setting for this famous Dashiell Hammett novel, plus the film version starring Humphrey Bogart as the detective Sam Spade. We’ll meet in the hospitality suite to discuss the story and then go on a privately guided tour of the locations featured. Hospitality (Saturday) – A final farewell, plans for spending the afternoon, and discussion of ideas for the next conference’s spouse activities. Golf We have reserved tee times (starting at 9:00 am) at the Presidio Golf Course, a National Historic Landmark on Thursday, March 22. Located just minutes from the Grand Hyatt, this 18-hole course plays 6,500 yards of challenging golf, winding through beautiful eucalyptus and Monterey pine trees in the city’s trademark hills. Designed with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers, this hilly course offers a unique challenge for golfers of all abilities. Note: The Presidio Golf Course will aerate its greens on March 12 and 13. The greens should be almost completely healed and the aeration should not affect the roll. The registration fee of $100 for this event includes greens fee, cart, range balls and $5 food and beverage credit. Transportation to and from the course is on your own. Rental clubs are available. Bike Across the Golden Gate Bridge As an alternative to golf on Thursday morning, why not try a beginner’s leisure bike ride? Bike through Fisherman’s Wharf, Municipal Pier,Fort Mason, Crissy Field, the Presidio, and Fort Point Then you’ll ride across the Golden Gate Bridge on a wide bike path with awesome views! Coast two miles downhill into sunny Sausalito, where you can leave your bikes, enjoy shops and lunch on your own, and return to San Francisco by ferry! You will travel eight miles in two to three hours on your privately guided tour. This trip is graded easy to moderate difficulty. The registration fee of $75 includes your bike, bottled water, snacks, the ferry fare from Sausalito to the city, roadside assistance and a privately guided tour. Transportation to the starting point in Fisherman’s Wharf and from the ferry station back to the hotel is not included. |
